Havant United Reformed Church – Summary of AGM
The AGM was held on Tuesday, 3rd October, with 28 members and friends present. Fourteen others gave their apologies for absence.
The Minister led devotions. The minutes of the last meeting were agreed and signed. The notes on the discussion held at the last meeting were also signed.
Elders’ Election – Jennifer Moore-Blunt, Shirley Warren and David Smith were re-elected onto the Eldership.
The secretary reported that Rev Graham Dadd has accepted a call from the churches of Oxted and Marsh Green, Edenbridge to become their new minister. His Induction Service is planned for 11th November. Literature, in the form of leaflets and bookmarks have been received giving information on “Walking the Way”. The National Churches Trust are developing a resource for Churches and visitors, and a Church member agreed to provide information about Havant URC.
The Church caretaker is to have major surgery on 10th October.
The concerns of all those in need were brought before the meeting in prayer.
The AGM reports, which had been previously circulated, were received and accepted. The Minister presented his report to the meeting, which was received and accepted.
Two people gave notice that they are standing down from the property committee. Two other members are also standing down from the publicity committee. The meeting was asked to prayerfully consider whether anyone felt able to fill these vacancies.
Church Meeting passed a resolution to accept delegated authority from the United Reformed Church (Wessex) Trust Limited, the Trustee of its premises, to casually hire and let its premises.
Church Meeting agreed to reduce the number of Church Meetings to six a year. It was felt that it would be good on occasions to break up into discussion groups, or invite a speaker. It was also agreed to produce an abstract of the Church Meeting minutes for a trial period, to see how it is received.
The meeting closed with The Grace at 9:24pm.
